How Does Dexter Taste?

Dexter beef is lean, choice grade, with little waste. The average dress out is 50% to 60%. Dexter beef is tender, sometimes darker, and well marbled. Dexter milk is rich with a butterfat content of about 4%. The quality is similar to milk from a Jersey cow. Dexters can produce 2 to 2.5 gallons of milk per day.

How To Buy Meat

Meat is sold by the whole, half and mixed quarter of a live animal. Reservations are taken in the spring for late fall delivery. At the current time, as we grow our herd, supplies will be limited. Please call the farm to check on availability and pricing. Although pricing varies depending on cuts chosen in the fall, we average about $2.00 per pound "on the hoof" which averages to about $5.00 per pound packaged.

At the current time, we have three animals available and we only sell "on the hoof".

Options are as follows:

*$

1500.00

Whole Animal: You choose cuts

*$

750.00

Half Animal: You will get half front and half back and you choose cuts

*$

375.00

Quarter Animal: You will get a mix of pre-chosen cuts

*All prices are approximate depending upon weight.

How to Buy Milk

Unfortunately, we are not set up to offer milk at this time.

How To Buy Cows

At the present time, Stone Meadow Farm does not have any heifers, cows or bulls available for purchase for use in starting your own herd or adding to your existing one. As our herd increases, however, we plan on offering this option.
